First Looks For The CW’s New Shows (2017-2018)

Black Lightning Dare To Defy

We’ve Got the Latest Trailers & Summaries for All the New Shows Hitting The CW…

The major networks have locked down their schedule for the Fall TV Season. Joining the holdovers are a bunch of new shows premiering next Fall and we’ve got all the previews. Monday, we gave you a few trailers for FOX’s new shows . Yesterday, we updated our ABC list to include all of the network’s new shows. Additionally, earlier today we posted the new shows for CBS. We will be doing a roundup for each network’s new lineup.

In this roundup, we have first looks at the new shows hitting The CW next season. The CW brings a new DC Comics superhero to the small screen and reboots the classic TV hit Dynasty. The CW’s slogan for the new season is “Dare to Defy.” Which is rather fitting since the network tends to defy your typical expectations from the other broadcast channels. Find out which new shows from the network you’ll be watching next fall. Check out these previews!

Valor

Official Summary:

An elite unit of U.S. Army helicopter pilots called the Shadow Raiders are sent on a top secret mission that goes terribly awry. Only two members of the team return safely: Warrant Officer Nora Madani and her commanding officer, Captain Leland Gallo. Nora and Gallo grow closer, and soon find themselves torn between duty, honor and desire.

Dynasty

Official Summary:

An elite unit of U.S. Army helicopter pilots called the Shadow Raiders are sent on a top secret mission that goes terribly awry. Only two members of the team return safely: Warrant Officer Nora Madani and her commanding officer, Captain Leland Gallo. Nora and Gallo grow closer, and soon find themselves torn between duty, honor and desire.

Black Lightning

Official Summary:

Jefferson Pierce is a man wrestling with a secret. Nine years ago, Pierce was gifted with the superhuman power to harness and control electricity, which he used to keep his hometown streets safe as the masked vigilante Black Lightning. However, after too many nights with his life and his family on the line, he left his Super Hero days behind. Almost a decade later, Pierce’s crime-fighting days are long behind him…or so he thought. But with crime and corruption spreading like wildfire, Black Lightning returns — to save not only his family, but also the soul of his community.

Life Sentence

Official Summary:

Stella has spent the last eight years living like she was dying (because she was). But when she finds out that her cancer has been cured, she is suddenly forced to face the long-term consequences of the “live in the moment” decisions she made. With a real future suddenly in front of her, Stella’s cinematic life snaps into reality, and instead of living like she’s dying, she will have to learn to live like she’s living, and help her family and friends do the same.

I’m glad to see a fairly unknown hero like Black Lightning is getting his own show. I find these lesser known hero shows more enjoyable since there aren’t as many iterations to compare to. The creators can really give the series its own unique feel without having to worry about upsetting the fans.

Additionally, Valor looks like it’s top competition will be CBS’ SEAL Team. However, It might be tough for the smaller network, The CW, to compete with the juggernaut that is CBS. The good news is they aren’t on the same night, which should mean their target audience can catch both shows. Then again, who watches TV live anymore?
