Syfy’s Superman Prequel TV Series Explodes Onto Televisions Later This Year…

Recently, when it comes to origin stories for DC Comics iconic characters, television has been giving us stories that don’t feature those heroes at all.  For example, Fox’s Gotham may have a Bruce Wayne getting into trouble from time to time, but the show is really about Jim Gordon.  Following that trend is Syfy’s Krypton.  A show about the Superman’s doomed home planet.  With the conclusion of your show already well known, the series needs to be really entertaining for people to want to tune in.

Fortunately for Syfy, the first trailer for the series seems to show a lot of promise.  Even if it wasn’t released according to plan.  Check out the trailer that hit the internet earlier today through unofficial channels:

This trailer features some of the best produced special effects I have seen on television, let alone the Syfy channel.  Honestly, this makes Supergirl look like an amateur fan-film.  If Krypton can keep up this high-quality look and delivery intriguing drama despite everyone knowing the conclusion, it might just be a success.

Here’s the show’s official synopsis:

Syfy’s Krypton, the much-anticipated Superman prequel set two generations before the destruction of the legendary Man of Steel’s home planet, will follow Superman’s grandfather — whose House of El was ostracized and shamed — as he fights to redeem his family’s honor and save his beloved world from chaos.

No word yet when the show officially airs on Syfy.  However, the promo does say 2017, so expect it sometime before the end of the year.  The show has a great producer behind the series in David S. Goyer.  He wrote Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight trilogy, so if the show is anywhere as good as those films it should be entertaining.

What do you think of a Superman prequel set on his home planet?  Will you be watching the show?  Let us know in the comments below.
